Brief description:

Open Table Nashville is an interfaith, homeless outreach nonprofit that was founded in 2010. Our mission is to disrupt cycles of poverty, journey with the marginalized, and provide education about issues of homelessness. Our work happens outside the walls of our office and on on the streets, in campsites, under overpasses, and in hospitals and jails. We build relationships with people who are living in the shadows of our city and help them navigate the resources and begin to rebuild their lives. Our outreach workers not only help people access housing, but are also agents of healing and hope. We also work for systemic change by advocating for more affordable housing and healthcare, better wages, and policies that protect the rights and dignity of our friends who are experiencing homelessness.

In 2015, Open Table Nashville was hailed as the "Best Nonprofit" by the Nashville Scene, and last month, we received the "Catalyst for Change Award" from the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM). We were also finalists for the "Compassionate Care Award" from CNM.

Bio:

Lindsey Krinks is co-founder of Open Table Nashville and currently coordinates their education program. For nearly 10 years, she has worked on the underside of Nashville—the tent cities, jails, slums, and underpasses—while also working with faith leaders, community organizing groups, and public officials to make Nashville a more hospitable and just community. Lindsey also serves as a street chaplain and graduated from Vanderbilt Divinity School in May of 2013. While she was there, she was a Cal Turner Fellow, a Brandon Scholar, and a Community Engagement Fellow. On any given day, Lindsey can be found in tent cities, washing feet on the streets, leading groups around downtown, marching for social and economic change, and foraging for native herbs and plants.
