· Served as Regional Counsel, Nashville N.A.A.C.P. for 27 years

· Made a legal career prosecuting sex harassment, race discrimination and police wrongful death cases


· Appointed Lead Counsel in five major court class actions

  1. 1.All African-American students in Metro Nashville schools re racial discrimination in the Nashville School Board’s rezoning plan in 2014

  2. 2.All death sentenced inmates in Tennessee for 16 years, stopping all executions in 1980s and 1990s

  3. 3.All mentally retarded citizens at Clover Bottom Developmental Center for 14 years

  4. 4.All Nashville taxpayers re property taxes and the improper countywide reappraisal of real estate

  5. 5.All Tennessee residential property owners in the Question 3 litigation to require homes to be taxed at a lower rate than businesses and utilities

He also had a very,very small role in Doe v. Bolton the companion case to Roe v. Wade

· Written or edited four books on Constitutional Law, Discrimination, Criminal Justice and Poverty as well as a University of California (Berkley) law review article on the Nuremburg War Crime trials and the Vietnam war


· Coached national debate champions for 20 years at high schools in Nashville (Pearl-Cohn,Overton,Hume Fogg, Martin Luther King High Schools)


· Coached many liberal Democrats in television debates


· Professor of Constitutional Law at Tennessee State University since the 1970s
